Panel on the Rohingya Crisis
The McGill International Law Society and Criminal Law McGill student clubs are organizing a panel to discuss the Rohingya refugee crisis and the related genocide case currently at the International Court of Justice.
With professors Payam Akhavan and Frédéric Mégret acting as moderators, we hope to invite members of McGill Law community, as well as members of the broader McGill and Montreal communities, who are interested in international criminal law to discuss the contemporary topic.
This event will offer students an opportunity to learn more about the case and international criminal law more generally, as well as highlight the expertise relating to international law and human rights that exists within our Faculty.
To register:
Guest speakers
- Saifullah Muhammad, co-founder and director of the Canadian Rohingya Development Initiative
- Yukiko Cowper-Smith, PhD Candidate, University of Guelph
- The Hon. Bob Rae, Special Envoy to Myanmar
Food and refreshments will follow (19:30-20:30) in the atrium.
We are committed to ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in the organization and conduct of this event: the location of this event is an accessible space. Consult McGill's Downtown Campus Accesssiblity Map [.pdf] for access points (see Chancellor Day Hall).
