Wednesday, February 26, 2014 18:00to21:00
Chancellor Day Hall NCDH 200, 3644 rue Peel, Montreal, QC, H3A 1W9, CA

The Asia-Pacific Law Association of McGill student group invites you to a showing of the documentary "Être chinois au Québec/Being Chinese in Quebec", followed by a Q&A with Parker Mah, one of the movie's directors, and Me Walter Tom, an immigration lawywer who also participated in the documentary project.

The documentary follows Bethany Or and Parker Mah, two young members of the community who have decided to call Quebec their home, as they set out across the province to explore their identity and their roots. The road trip takes place against the backdrop of the apology by the Canadian government to the Chinese community for past injustices, notably a Head Tax for Chinese entering Canada followed by an Exclusion Act that prevented all Chinese, and only Chinese, from entering Canada between 1923 and 1947.
