Friday, October 25, 2024 14:00to15:30
Tracing Melody and Rhythm in Writing F24

Description
Have you ever noticed how a good paper or article can sing to you as you read it? As a writer, awareness of the musical aspects of a text may help you “compose” writing that flows well.

Learning Objectives
Participants will learn:
• How melody and rhythm are used in writing
• How to use punctuation to create silence or pauses in their writing

Instructions
Have on hand a 1-2 page excerpt of a current writing project that you may use to apply the strategies we discuss. (A polished text, draft, or work in-progress is fine.)

Facilitator
This workshop is led by Farhan Ahmed, a musician and writer with a Master’s in Public Policy. Prior to moving to Montreal, Farhan worked as a journalist analyzing foreign policy and as a Market Experience Lead for Google in Asia.

Date, Time, & Location
This workshop will be offered online via Zoom on Friday, 25 October,  2024 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. You will receive the Zoom link in a confirmation email once you register.
