Taanshi! I am Red River Métis born and raised in St. James, Manitoba. I am a Vanier Scholar and PhD candidate in DISE, doing community-based research on the topic of Indigenous educational sovereignty. I am also a filmmaker. I use media and participatory strategies to explore issues around Indigenous identity and resurgence, self-determined education and intercultural experience. I have been teaching in Cinema-Communications at Dawson College for almost a decade. During this time I co-founded Indigenous education initiatives including the Journeys First Peoples Transition Program, Indigenous Education Council and Indigenous Community Table and led the First Peoples Post-secondary Storytelling Exchange (fppse.net) as Principle Investigator.
