Global Health Seminar: Trust, Water and Women: How the power of humor kickstarts public health in rural Senegal
McGill Global Health Programs is happy to present a special presentation by Jonathon Ellison.
Jonathon Ellison is a landscape architect, filmmaker and founder of Water For Women. He holds a Master’s in Sustainable Design and Community Economic Development. He has spent 25 years on design projects internationally, with a strong focus on a more- balanced understanding of gender, land-use planning, and human ecology. Since 2013, Jonathon has been using humor to gain the trust of women in West African villages. The focus is to then connect philanthropy with village workshops and helping the women find easier and solar-powered access to clean ground-water in drilled wells.  This multi-media presentation will show how a wide spectrum of public health issues then come to the surface, with the women at the helm of managing their own initiatives forward.Â
