Zhiwei Li has his sights set on a career exploring the microbiome in the research division of a food or biotech company, and his current research, under the supervision of Professor Jennifer Ronholm, is helping him pave the road to get there.
​"We use animal models and next-generation sequencing techniques to characterize the interactions between foodborne pathogens and host gut microbiome," Li explains who has worked in collaboration with collaboration with the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Research Centre on Complex Traits and Health Canada. "Food microbiology is an expansive field encompassing fermentation, bacterial pathogens, and microbiome in various environments. It's a diverse microbiological world that continues to amaze me."​â¶Ä‹
Zhiwei Li originates from Qingdao, China, received a B.Sc. Food Science from Jiangnan University.
