Welcoming Dr. Katia Faustini as the new LFME Assistant Course Director

The Department of Family Medicine is thrilled to welcome Dr. Katia Faustini as the new Longitudinal Family Medicine Experience (LFME) Assistant Course Director, effective September 1, 2019.

After completing her residency in Family Medicine at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ in 2015, Dr. Faustini joined the Department as a Faculty Lecturer based at the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex (QEHC). Over the last four years, she has been a preceptor for the LFME course, providing first-year medical students with early exposure to primary care. She has also been an Osler Fellow since 2018 and acts as an academic advisor for postgraduate residents at the QEHC.

As the LFME Assistant Course Director, Dr. Faustini will work closely with the LFME Course Director and the Physician Leads at various teaching sites to implement decisions made by the MDCM Program Committee and the Fundamentals of Medicine and Dentistry Committee to ensure the quality of the educational experience of the LFME course and those relevant accreditation standards are met. She will also collaborate with the Faculty Development Committee and the Department of Family Medicine to design and implement high-yield faculty development activities for LFME preceptors.

In addition to her teaching and clinical activities, Dr. Faustini is the the Faculty Development Site Lead for the QEHC and has participated in the implementation of the Faculty Development curriculum within her unit over the last year. In her new role, she will further the development and learning experience of new and returning LFME preceptors.
