Brigitte Vachon
Associate Professor;Â Graduate Program Director, Physics Department
I am a James McGill Professor in the Department of Physics. My research focuses on the study of the smallest components of matter in the universe and the laws that explain the behaviour of these fundamental constituents.
I am passionate about science, passing on my knowledge to the next generation and trying to be the best possible role model for my children. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, pursuing outdoor activities and playing music with others.
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to receive informal mentorship from wonderful individuals, and this has made an enormous difference in my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to now give back through the Provost’s Faculty Mentorship Network. Mentorship matters to me because beyond the basic sharing of knowledge and experience, I believe it provides a unique opportunity for growth for both mentors and mentees, and an effective way to become all together a more closely connected university community.
