Itis the most common genetic heart disease in the US and affects an estimated 1 in 500 people around the world. A protein called myosin acts as the molecular motor which makes the muscles in the heart contract. Researchers had suspected for some time that the R403Q mutation in some of the myosin genes is among those that play a role in causing HCM. But experiments using mice models failed to show that this was indeed the case.
Tue, 16 Oct 2018 19:29:01 +0000 㽶Ƶ Cannabis does not improve breathlessness during exercise in patients with advanced COPD, conclude KPE, PATH researchers /edu-kpe/node/3233
Inhaled vaporized cannabis does not appear to improve or worsen exercise performance and activity-related breathlessness in patients with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), according to a randomized controlled trial published online in Annals
Tue, 31 Jul 2018 16:22:15 +0000 㽶Ƶ KPE's Nathan Chiarlitti featured by Canadian Hockey League /edu-kpe/node/3232

Thu, 26 Jul 2018 15:54:18 +0000 㽶Ƶ Dr. Tyler Churchward-Venne appointed as William Dawson Scholar by McGill /edu-kpe/node/3144
Tyler Churchward-Venne, Assistant Professor with our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE), has been named as a William Dawson Scholar by 㽶Ƶ.
Thu, 31 May 2018 20:48:29 +0000 㽶Ƶ Recent research from KPE tackles ergonomics, hockey, smoking cessation, cancer, Parkinson's, strokes, spinal cord injury, prehabilitation, rehabilitation and more /edu-kpe/node/3134

Thu, 03 May 2018 19:06:53 +0000 㽶Ƶ KPE's Shannon Herrick named as finalist for 2018 SSHRC Storytellers contest /edu-kpe/node/3133
The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) has announced that Shannon Herrick, master's student with the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, has been named as a finalist for the 2018 SSHRC Storytellers contest.
Tue, 01 May 2018 19:34:02 +0000 㽶Ƶ KPE's Dr. Pearsall provides tips to avoid slips on icy sidewalks this winter, via CBC News /edu-kpe/node/3104
David Pearsall, Associate Professor in our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, spoke to CBC Montreal this week on the topic of avoid falls on the city's icy sidewalks.
Tue, 06 Feb 2018 18:16:16 +0000 㽶Ƶ New website for KPE’s Spinal Cord Injury Peer Mentorship team /edu-kpe/node/3101

Dr. Shane Sweet, of our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE), has launched a new website for a community-university partnership on Spinal Cord Injury Peer Mentorship (SCIPM): www.mcgill.ca/scipm
Tue, 30 Jan 2018 19:39:22 +0000 㽶Ƶ Congratulations to Soultana Macridis on the successful defense of her Ph.D. thesis /edu-kpe/node/2597
Congratulations to Soultana Macridis on the successful defense of her Ph.D. thesis (March 09, 2015), entitled:

“An Ethnographic Evaluation of a Community-Based Participatory Research Project Understanding Community Mobilization and Participation in School Active Transportation Initiatives in the Kanien’kehà:ka Community of Kahnawake, QC.”

Congratulations, Dr. Macridis! The DKPE is very proud of you and your accomplishment(s)!
Fri, 13 Mar 2015 23:23:52 +0000 㽶Ƶ Congratulations to Sophia Kapchinsky on the successful defense of her Ph.D. thesis /edu-kpe/node/2590
Congratulations to Sophia Kapchinsky (and her supervisors, Drs.
