Davidson Distinguished Lecture in Econometrics with Prof. Joel Horowitz
Davidson Distinguished Lecture in Econometrics with Prof. Joel Horowitz
On October 14, please join us for the inaugural lecture of the Davidson Distinguished Lecture in Econometrics, featuring guest speaker Prof. Joel Horowitz.
°Õ³ó±ðÌýDavidson Distinguished Lecture in Econometrics was established thanks to the generosity of Prof. Russell Davidson. The Lecture will invite prominent figures to the McGill campus, increase the Department of Economics' visibility, and allow students and faculty to see more of the broader academic world.
One of the core challenges in econometrics is that of incorporating information from economic theory into analyses of data, without imposing more structure than the theory justifies. Prof. Joel Horowitz's research has long focused on this effort to provide inference with minimally restrictive additional assumptions, using information such as shape restrictions from economic theory. He was a former co-editor of Econometrica and Econometric Theory, a Fellow of the Econometric Society and of the American Statistical Association, and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute.
