This presentation investigates how topics such as same-sex-families may be introduced into elementary classrooms. The analysis focuses on how teachers might utilize texts to integrate same-sex relationships in pedagogical repertoires. Case studies illuminate issues such as parental surveillance and the marginalization of sexual minorities.
Dr. Wendy Cumming-Potvin is an academic at Murdoch University in Australia. Her research interests include social justice, literacies and teacher development. She is a key researcher in a Cooperative Research Centre project utilizing technology to promote the well-being of young people.
