Planting of trees at Welcome Hall Mission

Bicentennial event in recognition of partnership with WHM

To recognize the longevity and sustainability of its partnership with Welcome Hall Mission, the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences donated to them two plum tree and indoor plants. The tree planting took place on September 16 during the , with Dean Elham Emami and members of the faculty present alongside Welcome Home Mission CEO Sam Watts and other WHM representatives.

Since 2011, the Faculty and Welcome Hall Mission have worked together to operate the Jim Lund Clinic, Montreal’s first permanent, free dental care clinic for low income and homeless individuals who don’t have any type of dental insurance. The clinic is funded through foundations, organizations and private donors who believe that dental care should be accessible to all regardless of income or housing status. “We know that a person’s oral health has an impact on their overall health and wellbeing. Our partnership with the Welcome Hall Mission allows us to offer essential dental care for those who cannot afford it and is rooted in our values and mission of social responsibility and community service” says Dean Emami.
