The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Dementia Education Program is pleased to invite you to a free public lecture offered in collaboration with The Council for Black Aging Community of Montreal, the Eva Marsden Centre for Social Justice and Aging, the LaSalle Multicultural Resource Center, and Women on the Rise.
This public lecture aims to raise awareness and provide basic information about Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases.
During this presentation, Dr. Serge Gauthier, a clinical neurologist, will provide information on the different types of neurocognitive disorders. He will discuss the associated behavioural and psychological symptoms that manifest as the disease progresses, and explain how these may differ from typical aging concerns. Dr. Gauthier is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Neurology & Neurosurgery and the Department of Psychiatry at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, and the Academic Co-Lead of the Dementia Education Program.
Next, Mrs. Claire Webster, former caregiver and Certified Dementia Care Consultant, will share practical advice on how to care for a person living with dementia. She will discuss important considerations to ensure the safety and well-being of both the individual as well as the care partner to help families understand and access the resources needed to navigate this disease. Claire is the Founder and Ambassador of the Dementia
Education Program at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, and Founder and President, Caregiver Crosswalk Inc.
A question and answer period will take place after the lecture.
