On this day, 33 years ago, Canada’s deadliest femicide occurred, killing 14 women at École Polytechnique de Montréal. This attack is representative of violence against women that is wider spread and deeply rooted in society. December 6 was named the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, and it is observed in conjunction with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
