One Day @ McGill presents seminars that allow you first-hand access to a McGill experience. Held on the 㽶Ƶ campus, these affordable small-group sessions are unique educational opportunities in which you are able to access in-depth knowledge produced by our academic community.

Description: In this seminar, we will delve into the fascinating and confusing challenges of managing university art collections. Museums can control the conditions for display and access to works of art; university collections are open to their community and to the public, and the art may be subject to harsher environmental conditions and other dangers such as accidental damage and, unfortunately, theft. But as “museums without walls,” they offer opportunities for chance encounters; someone who would never go to a museum may come across a work of art on a walk to class. Those chance encounters can influence someone’s life and education.
