Biography: 

Dr. Meguid is a Professor of Civil Engineering at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, specializing in geotechnical engineering. His interdisciplinary research and teaching focus on three main areas: (i) buried infrastructure, (ii) geosynthetic engineering, and (iii) transportation geotechnics. He has been involved in numerous projects in these fields, facilitating the transfer of his research findings to practical applications.

He holds the William Scott Research Chair in Civil Engineering at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. He is also a member of the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design and actively contributes to the ASCE G-I Geosynthetics Technical Committee. Additionally, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Geotechnical and Geological Engineering journal.

Dr. Meguid has held several key leadership roles at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, including Associate Dean (Academic Programs) of the Faculty of Engineering and Chair of the Civil Engineering Department.

His contributions to research and teaching have been recognized with several awards, including "The Geosynthetics Award" from the Canadian Geotechnical Society in 2022 and the "Samuel and Ida Fromson Award" for Outstanding Teaching in the Faculty of Engineering in 2010. He was also nominated for the Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2011.
