On 26 September, IASL Co-Director Prof. Andrea Harrington travelled to Washington DC to provide a lecture about the development and use of international institutions with a focus on space security and space safety to a cohort of students enrolled in the Master of International Public Policy program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies campus. She delivered the lecture and then participated in the three seminar discussions in the brand new JHU facility at 555 Pennsylvania avenue, which opened last month.

On March 30, 2023, the Institute’s students attended their Airline Business Law class, given by Sessional Lecturer George Petsikas, at nearby ICAO Headquarters. ICAO Secretary General Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar (IASL LL.M., 1999) greeted the class before Mr. Michael Gill, the Director of the Legal Affairs and External Relations Bureau, spent the morning giving the students a guest lecture about the main bodies of ICAO, the work of the ICAO Legal Committee, and environmental concerns and initiatives at ICAO.

The IASL was pleased to host Prof. Byers and Prof. Boley from the University of British Columbia for a guest lecture on February 16th. In front of an excited cohort, Prof. Byers and Prof. Boley delivered an interesting and engaging lecture based on their new book titled "Who Owns Outer Space?".

On 27 January 2022, a group of 25 students, consisting of the 2021, 2022 and 2023 cohorts, enjoyed the unique opportunity to visit the headquarters of Air Canada located at Montreal airport for a career field trip. Under the warm hospitality and guidance of employees at Air Canada, they were given a special tour of the crew training facilities, the maintenance hangar, the dangerous goods department as well as call centre operations and enjoyed lectures by seasoned professionals at the legal and regulatory affairs department and the network planning department of Canada's flag carrier.

Stefan-Michael Wedenig, LLM’21, was named executive director of the IASL and its Centre for Research in Air and Space Law.ÌýÌý

Western powers prepared to pile sanctions on Belarus and cut off its aviation links after it scrambled a warplane to intercept a Ryanair aircraft and arrest a dissident journalist’. In a video posted online, the detained blogger, Roman Protasevich, 26, said he was in good health, being held in a pretrial detention facility in Minsk, and acknowledged having played a role in organizing mass disturbances in the capital last year. The comments were immediately dismissed by his allies, including his father, as having been made under duress.
