Montreal native Sydney Wiseman (BCom’11) has risen to the helm of children’s toy products through her successful venture, Fingerlings.

Named children’s toy of the year a few months ago, Fingerlings has flown off the shelves of retailers around the world, selling more than 100,000 products in its first week in the U.S. market.

Wiseman sits down with La Presse to chat about her recipe for success and product inspiration.

Three young entrepreneurs, including Yassine Chaabi (BCom’16), are the creative minds behind Spotfields, an innovative app that unites Montreal soccer players of all levels and helps them form teams and compete.

With already 200 subscribers, Spotfields is taking all the questions out of finding a team and a venue at which to play, making the thrill of soccer more accessible to all.

Executive Director of the Bensadoun Retail Initiative, Charles de Brabant (BCom'83), has been selected to be a part of a committee organized to devise a commercial development plan for Montreal and strategy for the local merchants.

The committee will study how other cities are dealing with the global issues and challenges that are also prevalent in Montreal’s retail sector.

Since graduating from Desautels, Debra Kelsall (BCom’15, Honours in Investment Management) has achieved great success as an associate in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs in London, where she works in debt capital markets and corporate risk management.

She recently sat down with Professor Karl Moore to talk about her journey so far, including what it’s like to relocate to a foreign country and the work culture of Goldman Sachs.Ìý

Sydney Wiseman (BCom'11), brand manager of WowWee, a leading manufacturer of hi-tech consumer robotic and entertainment products, was named the Wonder Woman in Toys Creator of the Year for her work with the Fingerlings children’s toy.
