Anthony Tan (MMus’09, PhD’15) is the winner of the 2021 Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music for his composition Ways of Returning (2020). An 18-minute-long piece for amplified string quartet and electronics, Ways of Returning was commissioned by Quatuor Bozzini and E27 musique nouvelles.

Congratulations to violinistJulia Mirzoev, winner of the2021-2022Golden Violin Award!

The award includes a $30,000 cash prize, as well as a smaller likeness of the violin in the form of a 14-karat gold lapel pin. The Golden Violin Award wasestablishedin 2006 bybusinessmanand philanthropist Seymour Schulich, a year after he donated $20 million to McGill’s Schulich School of Music.His unflagging support ofourmusicians has,through this award,seennearly$400,000giventotopSchulich stringplayers. Congratulations to mezzo-sopranos Rose Naggar-Tremblay (BMus’17) and Simone McIntosh (MMus'17, Wirth Vocal Prize Winner 2016-2017), who received first and second place respectively at the 82nd OSM Competition!
