PhD administrator Luciana Adoyo has won the Award for Excellence in Service to Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for 2018. The award was presented at the annual GPC workshop on June 13, 2018, by Josephine Nalbantoglu, Dean of GPS. In the citation for the award, Dean Nalbantoglu remarked that the selection committee was impressed with Adoyo’s dedication to the graduate students in her unit, the efficiency she has brought to the daily operations within her department, and with her visible devotion to her work.
A team of undergraduate students under the supervision of Prof. David Covo has won second prize at the 2018 Tongji International Construction Festival and Fengyuzhu Plastic Polypropylene Sheet Design and Construction Competition on June 10, 2018, in Shanghai. At a press conference on June 5, 2018, at the Oratory Basilica, Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal revealed the winner of the multidisciplinary architectural competition launched last December. The jury followed a rigorous process to evaluate the offers from the four finalists according to well-defined selection criteria. The concept behind the winning project incorporates physical, historical and spiritual elements into the reconfiguration design for the inside of the Basilica’s dome and the museum spaces, which will give access to Montréal’s highest vista.
A photographic exhibition of built architectural projects of Ukrainian churches in Ukraine, Canada and the USA, designed by Emeritus Professor Radoslav Zuk, has opened at the Museum of the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.
