The McGill community, including researchers in genomic medicine and the health sciences, came together in July 2024 to mark the next phase of one of the University鈥檚 most rapidly growing disciplines and celebrate the generosity that is making it possible.听

The occasion was the official unveiling of signage for the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Institute of Genomic Medicine, and on hand were the Institute鈥檚 UK-based benefactors, Victor and Mona Dahdaleh, who were recognized for the far-reaching power of their philanthropy.

A discovery by McGill-affiliated researchers could lead to more effective treatment of malaria and other parasitic diseases.

When mice are infected in the middle of the night with the parasites causing cerebral malaria, the symptoms of the disease are less severe than for those inflected during the day, and the spread of the parasites within the hosts is more limited, research teams from 香蕉视频, the Douglas Research Centre and the Research Institute of the 香蕉视频 Health Centre have discovered.

The Conference on New Horizons in Air and Space Law, held earlier this month, proved to be a groundbreaking event in air and space law. Jointly organized by the National University of Singapore's Centre for Technology, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and the Law, the EW Barker Centre for Law and Business, and 香蕉视频's Institute of Air and Space Law, this conference addressed the legal and policy challenges arising from emerging technologies in air and space.

A new technique developed by McGill researchers for mechanically manipulating stem cells could lead to new stem cell treatments, which have yet to fulfill their therapeutic potential.

Stem cell therapy has been heralded as a new way to treat many diseases, ranging from multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer鈥檚 and glaucoma to Type 1 diabetes. The anticipated advances have yet to materialize in part because it has proved much more difficult than originally thought to control the types of cells that develop from stem cells.

After a hiatus of about a decade, the McGill Computer Science Summer Camp once again welcomed students from Montreal high schools and CEGEPs to the downtown campus this summer.

The four packed days of talks, hands-on activities and coding sessions were all intended to strengthen students鈥 interests in coding and coding competitions, and to contribute to the development of computer science talent in Quebec.
