Seeking SIS Practicum Hosts!

Our School is currently recruiting new Sites, Site Supervisors, and Projects for our Winter Semester Practicum.

The SIS Practicum is a 3-credit, tuition-based academic elective course for 2nd-year Master of Information Studies students. It consists of a supervised work placement at an approved site, typically unpaid, with required course assignments (e.g., work logs, mid-term report, final paper). The fieldwork component is a total of 100 hours.

2024-2025 Course Registration for Returning Students

Please note that changes to the 2024-2025 schedule may occur, and students should regularly check their registration throughout the summer before the Fall term starts.

Congratulations to Muhe Yang, PhD in Information Studies student at the School of Information Studies (�㽶��Ƶ), has received a Fonds de Recherche du Quebec; Nature et Technologies scholarship, for their research (French/English): Soutenir l'activité physique à un âge avancé : Co-conception de technologies de promotion de l'activité / Supporting Physical Activity in Later Life: Co-Design of Activity Promoting Technologies.

The FRQNT scholarship is awarded on basis of research and academic merit.

Muhe Yang was also awarded a Wolfe Chair fellowship in April.

McGill's Library Information & Management rises in world rankings

McGill's Library program (MISt) has risen from 8th in the world in 2023 to 6th in the world in 2024. McGill now rates in the global top 50 across all five faculty areas.

"Library Information & Management also climbed up the table, moving from eighth in 2023, to sixth this year. Anatomy & Physiology holds steady in the seventh spot."

McGill Employees from the Past: Community Builders for McGill and Beyond

This exhibit was created by Adjunct Professor Gordon Burr with the aid of three talented Archival Outreach practicum students in the School of Information Studies, Gabrielle Machnick-Kekesi, Kiana Lemay and Julia Fekete. Their hard work, enthusiasm shown to help engage the public with archives and desire to provide narratives of these employees to fill the gaps or address the silences in historical acknowledgement of this McGill community was remarkable.
