Uveges and Moreau run rampant as Redmen strike Minutemen in lacrosse tourney

MONTREAL -- Freshman Ben Uveges of Rochester, N.Y., scored five points (including two goals) and Nick Moreau of Trumbull, Conn., notched a hat-trick as McGill rallied in the second half for an 11-6 come-from-behind win over the visiting University of Massachusetts club lacrosse team, at Forbes Field on Saturday.

Uveges and Moreau paced a fourth-quarter comeback that feature six unanswered goals. Teammates Jishan Sharples of vancouver, B.C., and Boston native Mike Ting netted two goals apiece for the Redmen, with singles going to senior Gavin Lichthardt of Salt Lake City and freshman Osburn Long of Sarnia, Ont.

All-Canadian attacker Alex Kruse of Oakville, Ont., added two helpers and veteran goaltender Guy Fox of Glen Rock, N.J., played a stellar second half, allowing just two goals in relief of freshman Simon Hudson of Seattle, Wash.Ìý Fox kept UMASS scoreless in the fourth quarter with several acrobatic saves.

The Minutemen fell behind 4-2 in the first half but surged to a 6-4 lead in the third quarter.Ìý They had balanced scoring from several players, led by Brendan Eckhoff and Gavin McIver, each of whom scored twice. Mike Baker and Steve Collura added singles.
