TORONTO - No. 2 seeded Michel Berthelemot and third-seeded and Alexandre Halverson won both of their singles matches but McGill fell 5-2 in men's tennis at the University of Toronto, Saturday.

Playing without two of their top six players, the Redmen dropped four of six singles matches before surrendering a meaningless doubles point.

The singles matches were highly contested with five of six matches lasting over two hours and four matches went to a deciding third set.

After trailing 3-6, 2-5, Berthelemot orchestrated a great comeback to win a lopsided third set 6-0. The momentum seemed to have changed when he hit a spectacular shot between his legs that turned out to be a winning passing shot.

Yvan Bodart had three match points to tie the fixture at 3-3 but could not capitalize.

Halverson and Spencer Macnaughton, who teamed up for the first time, won an exciting match 8-7, 11-9 in the tiebreaker. Halverson was the only McGill player to win both his singles and doubles matches and Macnaughton avenged his loss to his singles opponent.
