Steady progress in talks with AMURE
The University met with AMURE's bargaining team on April 4, where discussions led to agreements on several elements. The parties pursued their discussions on articles dealing with definitions. Only five definitions remain to be settled (two for the associates and three for the assistants) out of the 32 definitions covered in the parties' proposals.
Articles dealing with the purpose of the agreement, union
recognition and management rights were discussed, and an agreement
was reached on 17 of the 21 articles dealing with these topics
(eight for the associates and nine for the assistants).
The next meeting is scheduled for April 11 at which all unresolved
elements will be discussed once again or taken up jointly with
other items. The parties will also broach items pertaining to the
relationship between the employer and the union, non-discrimination
and other topics, depending on the progress made at the
meeting.
