Six Redmen earn Quebec rugby all-star status
MONTREAL – Six members of the Quebec champion rugby team have
earned all-conference honours.
Cayse Ruiter of Ottawa, heads the list, along with Dave Tontini of
Pointe Claire, Que., John Phelan of Montreal and Josh Reznick of
Toronto, plus Peter Klestov and Ian Turner, both natives of
Brisbane, Australia.
The Redmen, who blanked Bishop’s 21-0 last Sunday to capture their
third consecutive banner, are now preparing to host Maritime
champion Dalhousie for an unofficial Eastern Canadian championship
this Saturday at Percival Molson Stadium. Kickoff is slated for
2:30 p.m.
Ruiter is a 6-foot, 200-pound senior flanker majoring in physical
& health education, while Tontini, a history junior, is a
5-foot-10, 235-pound prop. Phelan, a civil engineering senior, is a
6-foot-7, 220-pound lock and Reznick, an economics sophomore, is a
5-foot-11, 175-pound scrum-half. Klestov is a 5-foot-10, 185-pound
flanker, while Turner, a fly-half, measures 5-foot-11 and 180
pounds. Both Aussies are rookies on an exchange program from the
University of Queensland,
