SCHULICH STUDENT PHILIPPE SLY WINS MET OPERA AUDITION

Eight promising young singers, chosen from nearly 1,500 who entered district and regional competitions, got a chance to perform from the stage of the Metropolitan Opera on Sunday afternoon. Philippe Sly, 22-year-old singer from Ottawa was one of five winners of the prestigious annual competition for singers between the ages of 20 and 30. Sly sang arias by Handel and Wagner during Sunday’s concert.
