On behalf of the 香蕉视频 community, Principal and Vice-Chancellor Suzanne Fortier today expressed sincere condolences to the family of Paul听Desmarais听Sr., an important pillar of the Quebec and Canadian business communities, who died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the age of 86.

Among his many听honours, bestowed both at home and abroad, Mr.听Desmarais听was awarded an honorary doctorate of laws by McGill in 1992 in recognition of his immense contributions to Quebec and Canadian society.听Mr.Desmarais听and his wife听Jacqueline have been听generous supporters of McGill and the Montreal Neurological Institute听over the years.听On the day of his memorial service, a date for which has not yet been announced by theDesmarais听family, the University鈥檚 flag will fly at half-staff.

鈥淢.听Desmarais听was not only a leading businessman who, from humble beginnings, built a great enterprise at Power Corp.,鈥� Prof. Fortier said,听鈥�He听displayed a keen sense of civic duty which made him much more than just a successful executive.听He was听someone who felt听an听obligation to contribute to听our听broader society in many different ways听and we听were all the richer for that.鈥�
