Saputo offers scholarship to fencer, signs pact with McGill Athletics & Recreation

MONTREAL -- Vincent Couturier, a mechanical engineering student at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, has been awarded a Saputo sports excellence bursary valued at $3,500, through the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence. Couturier, a 21-year-old native of Verdun, Que., has been a member of the Canadian national fencing team since 2008. Ranked 27th in the world in men's sabre, he recently returned from the world championships in Catania, Sicily and is currently competing at the Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Couturier received one of 37 Saputo scholarships, valued at $120,000, recently handed out by the largest dairy processor in Canada.

"Saputo has demonstrated initiative, leadership and passion in its support of young student-athletes and we are happy to announce that we've just signed a new partnership with them to serve as our official supplier of milk and Ultimate chocolate milk ," said Drew Love, executive director of Athletics & Recreation at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.

Saputo will make their products available to McGill student-athletes to replenish fluids after games and practices. As well, their brand is now available at concession stands and vending machines at sports venues on the McGill campus.
