MONTREAL - Sophomore forward Maxime Langelier-Parent of Levy, Que., set up three goals as McGill skated to a 5-1 come-from-behind win over the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in men's hockey at McConnell Arena, Friday.

It was the eighth victory in nine contests for the Redmen, who dropped two spots to No.7 in the CIS national rankings this week. McGill improved to 3-0 lifetime against UOIT, an expansion squad from Oshawa, Ont. that joined the OUA two years ago.

After a scoreless first period, Kyle Wettering of Pickering, Ont., gave the upstart Ridgebacks a 1-0 lead before the second period was a minute old.

However, McGill roared back with five unanswered goals, by five different players. Simon Marcotte-Légaré, a third-year forward from Longueuil, Que., evened the score at 14:51. Just 32 seconds later, the Redmen then took a precarious lead when sophomore Marc-André Daneau of Aston Jonction, Que., converted a pass from Langelier-Parent and netted what proved to the game-winner.

McGill finally awoke from their slumber in the third period, exploding for three goals.

Langelier-Parent then set up rookie Patrick Belzile of St. Eloi, Que., at 6:13. That was followed by Guillaume Doucet's marker at 7:33. It was Doucet's seventh goal in nine games.

Defenceman Yan Turcotte, who is having a break-out year offensively, took a pass from Langelier-Parent and fired a laser beam off the post to put the contest on ice at 18:13. The rugged fifth-year industrial relations senior from Laval, Que., has a 4-5-9 record in nine league games, already his career single-season best for goals and points. He moved into a tie for sixth-place among OUA blueliners in points.

McGill had a 32-26 edge in shots as goalie Hubert Morin, a sophomore from St. Georges de Beauce, Que., improved his unblemished record to 5-0 in six starts. Morin, who has one shutout, lowered his stingy goals-against average to 2.23, the second-best GAA in the league. He also has the third-best save percentage (.919).

UOIT, which dropped to 4-6-1, plays in Trois-Rivières (10-2-0) on Saturday.
Ìý
The Redmen (8-1-0) will now embark on a nine-game road-trip before returning home to McConnell Arena on Jan. 9 for a game against Ottawa. McGill opens the log road trip against the Gee-Gees in Ottawa on Tuesday (Nov. 24), then play at Nipissing in North Bay, Ont., Friday and at U of T on Saturday.
