Redmen Porter becomes first volleyball player to win a major award.

MONTREAL - Jeffrey Porter and Matthew Mosseler, both members of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ men's volleyball team, have earned second team all-star honours from the Quebec Student's Sports Federation, which has announced its all-stars and major award winners for the 2009-10 season.

Porter, a 19-year-old science sophomore, majoring in kinesiology, was also voted as libero of the year in the Quebec conference and becomes the first Redmen volleyball player in school history to win one of the league's major awards. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound native of Toronto led the league in digs with 206 in 55 sets (an average of 3.75 per set), almost double the amount compiled by the next closest player.

Mosseler, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound power-hitter from Fredericton, N.B., made the dream team for the second consecutive season. The 21-year-old anatomy and cell biology senior ranked fourth among the league's dig leaders (2.45 per game) and was seventh in kills, averaging 2.67 per game,
