Ram Jakhu honoured with IISL Distinguished Service Award

On September 28, 2007, associate professor Ram Jakhu received the Distinguished Service Award from the International Institute of Space Law (IISL). This award, conferred annually by the IISL to one of its members, celebrates Ram Jakhu's significant contribution to space law.

The award ceremony took place at the 58th International Astronautical Congress held last week in Hyderabad, India, which was attended by over 2,000 space professionals, government officials and industry representatives.

The IISL was founded by the International Astronautical Federation in 1960. Its objectives include cooperation with international organizations and national institutions in the field of space law, the development of space law, and the study of legal and societal aspects of the exploration and use of outer space.
