Publication of a new edition of “Les Obligations”
The Faculty is pleased to announce that Pierre-Gabriel Jobin, Ad. E., Wainwright Emeritus Professor of civil law at McGill, and Nathalie Vézina, BCL’88, LLB’88, full Professor at Université de Sherbrooke, recently published a new edition of that great classic of Quebec private law: Les Obligations.
This thoroughly revised and updated 7th edition analyzes contract law, along with the term, execution, transmission, transfer and extinction of obligations. With its clear and structured presentation, and its comparative and critical approach, the book provides potential answers to controversial questions of contemporary civil law.
The book offers a fresh analysis of contractual liability, including compensatory and punitive damages, a comprehensive look at the rules on restitution of prestations, a clarification of perfect solidarity (solidarité parfaite) and of in solidum obligations, a review of the thorny questions surrounding the relationship between separate but economically related contracts, as well as a new chapter on the assignment of contracts.
