FREDERICTON, NB - The McGill women's soccer team battled UPEI to a 1-1 draw in non-conference action at UNB's Chapman Field in Fredericton, Sunday.

Ìý

All-Canadian Tessa Roche tallied the equalizer for the Panthers, just nine minutes after Katherine Green had given McGill a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute of play.

Ìý

"It was probably our best overall game to date," said Martlets head coach Marc Mounicot. "We dominated the play for the entire game, having a 17-1 advantage in shots directed toward the net."

Ìý

The Martlets ran into a hot UPEI keeper, who made some key saves and got a little lucky with two shots off the goalpost.

Ìý

"We have a young team that now understands our system but we have to be more lethal in the box," added Mounicot. "We made one mistake as a result of some inexperience and it cost us as Roche punished us and set-up a nice goal for Lisi."

Ìý

The Martlets finished their preseason schedule with a 6-1-1 record and now have five days to prepare their official season opener against Sherbrooke on Friday at Molson Stadium.
