New Interim Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Montreal Children's Hospital
It is our pleasure to announce that Dr. Lila Amirali has accepted to act as Interim Head of the Department of Psychiatry of the Montreal Children’s Hospital as well as Interim Division Chief of Child Psychiatry. This new leadership role has been in effect since January 1, 2014. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Amirali in her new position.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Martin Gauthier for his excellent guidance during his mandate as Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Montreal Children’s Hospital as well as Division Chief of Child Psychiatry.
Dr. Amirali was born and raised in Greece and finished medical school in Athens. She came to McGill with a scholarship as a Research Fellow and proceeded to do a residency in Psychiatry. She has received many awards, including full scholarship during her medical studies, APA Women’s Fellowship, Best Promising Clinician prize from the Department of Psychiatry, etc.
Dr. Amirali worked at the CHUM in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry where she was a member of many committees and Director of Training for residents and medical students. She was also the Director of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training program. Dr. Amirali is a consultant for the Programme d’Aide aux Medecins du Québec and has been teaching “physician wellbeing” to the medical students at McGill for more than ten years. Since 2008, she has been the Director of the Pediatric Psychiatric Care Program at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. This program includes the Inpatient Unit, the Crisis Service, the First Episode Psychosis Clinic and the Eating Disorders Day Program. Since 2012, she has been the Clinical Director of the Department of Psychiatry at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Amirali is also the Director of the Psychotherapies Module for the Residency Program at 㽶Ƶ and the Academic Representative of the RUIS in the Child Psychiatry Provincial Committee. She is presently completing an International Masters on Health Leadership (IMHL) at the Desautels School of Management at 㽶Ƶ. She is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at 㽶Ƶ.
