MUHC Board of Directors elects officers
Director General and CEO of the 㽶Ƶ Health Centre (MUHC) Dr. Arthur T. Porter announced today the new slate of officers elected by the members of the MUHC Board of Directors at their meeting on February 19.
Senator W. David Angus QC is elected to the position of chair of the board. The new vice-chair is Claudio F. Bussandri and the new treasurer is Pierrette Wong.
Senator Angus has a long association with the MUHC, having served on its board since the creation of the health centre in 1997. Previously, he chaired the board of the Montreal General, one of the partner hospitals. He is currently president of the Montreal General Hospital Corporation and co-chair of the McGill-MUHC Excellerator Project, a biotechnology transfer vehicle.
He is a senior partner in the law firm of Stikeman, Elliott, LLP and has served in the Senate of Canada since 1993. In his acceptance speech, Senator Angus gave priority to “getting the redevelopment project on the Glen and Mountain campuses up and running.” To this end, he emphasized the importance of positive relationships with the Government of Quebec.
Claudio F. Bussandri has served on the board of the MUHC since 2003. He is chair of the human resources committee of the board. Previously, he served as chairman of the board of the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation and is currently a member of the executive. He is the immediate past-CEO of McKesson Canada.
Pierrette Wong is newly elected to the board. She is active in a number of community and public service organizations including Chinese Family Services, the McGill Dental Outreach Program, MCCUC Housing Corporation. She is co-chair of the MUHC Women’s Health Mission capital campaign. She is the founding president of Italwong Fashion Inc. and a real estate investor.
David Culver, who has been chair of the Board of Directors of the MUHC since 2000, will hold the position of emeritus chair as well as chair of the Redevelopment Project Steering Committee.
The 㽶Ƶ Health Centre (MUHC) is a comprehensive academic health institution with an international reputation for excellence in clinical programs, research and teaching. The MUHC is a merger of five teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at 㽶Ƶ — the Montreal Children’s, Montreal General, Royal Victoria, and Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, as well as the Montreal Chest Institute.
