Moose and Martindale named McGill athletes of week
MONTREAL -- Moustafa El Zanaty of Montreal and Rebecca
Martindale of Kingston, Ont., are the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ athletes of
the week for the period ending Nov. 30, 2008.
El Zanaty, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound guard on the men's basketball
team, amassed 59 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists in a pair of
losses to Laval last week. The 25-year-old finance & treasury
senior, combined to shoot 45.8 per cent from the field (22 of 48),
26.3 per cent from three-point range (5 of 19) and 76.9 per cent
from the foul-line (10 of 13).
El Zanaty is a product of Champlain College in St. Lambert,
Que.
Martindale, who stands 5-foot-4, is a left-winger on the women's
hockey team. The 21-year-old education senior scored her first
career hat-trick last Saturday as the No.1-ranked Martlets
overwhelmed No. 10-Ottawa 9-0.
Martindale attended Holy cross secondary school before enrolling at
McGill in 2005.
