Montreal Matters

Published: 25 September 2003
Montreal Matters 2003 will explore the topic of "home" and what it means to Montrealers. It will examine issues surrounding households, housing, community as home in the larger sense, identity or the "feeling" of being at home in Montreal, and the physical place we live in or "the house." The series seeks to enhance public understanding of an issue identified as being of broad concern to Montrealers; it will deliver thought-provoking and innovative programming on CBC Radio, Television and CBC.ca, and through events organized in conjunction with its partners: The Foundation of Greater Montreal, HOUR magazine, Concordia University and Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.

Throughout October, McGill and the CBC will present a number of events, including:

October 1-31: "New Perspectives: Montreal and Montrealers in Art and Architecture" - featuring drawings of private 19th-century homes given to McGill for academic purposes. McLennan/Redpath Building corridor

October 16, 7:30 pm: "Our Home: Haven or Hazard?" - featuring Professors Joe Schwarcz, David Harpp and Ariel Fenster from McGill's Office for Science and Society. Room 112, Otto Maass Chemistry Building
