Montreal budget 2016

Published: 25 November 2015

"The City of Montreal's 2016 budget includes another increase in residential property taxes, a smaller increase in non-residential property taxes and an increase in overall expenditures of 2.4 per cent." (Source: )

"The fact that the transport budget (for the STM) has increased is good news, as is the fact that the budget is beginning to reflect the effects of recent laws controlling pension contributions.
The proportion of the operating budget allocated to debt repayment is high - not out of line with other cities, but still high.
Finally, the small budgets allocated to the 'office of client relations' and to consultations with socio-economic partners indicate an openness to dialogue and a concern with city services that are good signs."
