Construction-related activities on the 7th floor are now complete.

New lab benches, fume hoods and floors are being installed on the 8th floor, and are in place on the 9th floor.

Freezer farm installation, starting with the 10th floor and progressing to floors 11-13 (inclusive), begins October 25. Freezer farms and security door installation will be completed by late December 2010.

Ceilings are being opened up on floors 11-13 (inclusive) for work on the mechanical systems. Contractors are cleaning the ventilation ducts as they proceed, to cut down on any dust that has accumulated in the system.

An outside wall on the 15th floor has been demolished to lift new units to the mechanical room. The new mechanical system will be in place by the end of January 2011, followed by commissioning and a period of adjustments.

Two new chimneys have been installed on the rooftop and two will follow. The new strobic chimneys will improve exhaust and energy efficiency, without affecting McIntyre's roofline nor altering the view from Mount Royal.
