McGill's St. Cyr earns OUA all-star honours for second time

MONTREAL - McGill's Camille St. Cyr, a 5-foot-4 midfielder from Richmond, B.C., has earned OUA field hockey all-conference honours for the second consecutive season.

Ìý

TheÌý 19-year-old science sophomore was voted by the league's coaches to a berth on the first team after receiving second-team honours in her freshman year.

Ìý

Brienne Stairs of Kitchener, Ont., claimed the OUA player of the year prize. The third-year forward was the league leader in scoring during the regular season with 30 goals in 14 games to lead the Gryphons to a 12-0-2 record, the best in school history.

Her sister, Tegan Stairs, is the recipient of the rookie of the year award after netting seven goals.

The Gail Wilson Award, given to the player who makes the most outstanding contribution to field hockey, was handed out to Western's Petra Kovacs of Strathroy, Ont.

Waterloo's head coach Eshan Ali was named the OUA's coach of the year. The Warriors finished in fourth place with a record of 7-4-3, an 11-point turnaround from 2008. It is the team's first winning season since 2005.
