MONTREAL - Brianna Miller of the McGill Martlets has been voted rookie of the year in the Quebec University Rugby League. The 19-year-old physical and health education freshman from Pte. Claire, Que., was one of three McGill players named to the 2010 QURL all-star team, along with eight-man Mandy Mongeon of Ile Bizard, Que., and fullback Briana Yerbury of Montreal.

Miller finished second in the QURL scoring race with 57 points, registering eight tries, seven conversions and one penalty kick.

Mongeon, a physiology senior, scored three tries, while Yerbury, a political science and history senior, started all six games but had no points.

Other major award winners included Concordia's Jackie Tittley of Kirkland, Que., the conference scoring champion who was named player of the year, Toronto native Jackie Comeau of the Ottawa Gee-Gees, who was honoured for community service. Concordia's Graeme McGravie earned coach-of-the-year honours after guiding the Stingers to a 6-0 record.
