McGill's Hamilton and Landry named QUFL players of the week

MONTREAL - McGill running back Andrew Hamilton and defensive back Greg Landry have been named offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, in the Quebec University Football League, for the period ending . The special teams award went to Pierre-Paul Gelinas of the Montreal Carabins.

Hamilton, a 25-year-old student enrolled in a certifcate in business program, is a native Montrealer who was raised in Miami, Fla. He scored three touchdowns and racked up 349 all-purpose yards to help McGill defeat Mount Allison 49-27 in Sackville, N.B., Saturday.Ìý The six-foot, 198-pound speedster rushed 28 times for 254 yards and a pair of TDs, one of them a 53-yard romp on McGill's fifth offensive play of the game. He added two receptions for 95 yards, including an 85-yard TD catch that broke open a close game and put the Redmen ahead 20-10 late in the third quarter.

Landry, Ìýa 21-year-old finance senior from Vancouver, B.C., registered seven solo tackles, two assisted tackles, one interception and a knockdown. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback had arguably his best game over his five seasons. He joined the Redmen in 2005 out of Windsor Secondary School in North Vancouver..
