MONTREAL -- Randy Chevrier, a McGill grad playing with the Calgary Stampeders, is among a record total of 145 players from CISÌý institutions that are listed on Canadian Football League rosters going into the 2012 CFL season, which is set to get under way Friday night.
Ìý
The number includes 116 players on active rosters, 13 on practice rosters, 15 on an injured list, and one on a suspended list.
Ìý
According to lineups posted on CFL team websites, 47 CIS graduates hail from the six-team Canada West conference (CWUAA), 44 are from the 10-team Ontario league (OUA), 34 are out of the six-team Quebec division (RSEQ) and 21 are a product of the four-team Atlantic conference (AUS).

All 26 teams currently competing in CIS are represented.

Saskatchewan leads all CIS institutions with 12 former players listed on CFL rosters. Calgary and Western are next with 11 apiece, followed by Saint Mary's (10), Laval (10) and Bishop's (8).

Chevrier, a 36-year-old native of St. Leonard, Que., will be looking to suit up for his 73rd consecutive game in a Stampeders jersey -- the longest streak of any current player on the Calgary roster -- when the Stamps entertain the Alouettes on Canada Day. He played five seasons with the Redmen before being selected by Jacksonville in the seventh round of the 2001 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-2, 270-pound defensive lineman and long-snapper was also picked fifth overall by Edmonton in the CFL Draft. Currently in his eighth season with the Stampeders, he has also been a member of the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets.

The 2012 CIS football season kicks off on August 31 and culminates on November 23 with the 48th Vanier Cup final at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
