㽶Ƶ Health Centre named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers

Published: 10 October 2007

Following a comprehensive audit and selection process that examined nation-wide best practices in recruitment and retention, the 㽶Ƶ Health Centre (MUHC) was named one of Canada’s Top 100 employers for 2008. The 㽶Ƶ Health Centre was one of only three health sector institutions named to the list and one of only seven organizations named from Quebec.

“I am very excited and pleased that the MUHC has been recognized as a great place to work,” says Dr. Arthur Porter, Director General and CEO of the 㽶Ƶ Health Centre. “I am especially proud that we have been selected nationally as one of the country’s leading employers, as we work hard to create an environment where healthcare professionals and support personnel are rewarded with outstanding careers and long-lasting friendships.”

Building on the strengths of each of the partner hospitals, the 㽶Ƶ Health Centre is committed to developing a work culture that places respect of employees and patients at the top of a list of organizational priorities that include providing ongoing opportunities for professional development, improving the physical working environment, and developing innovative retention programs.

“Those of us who work here know that the team work is outstanding and that there is a genuine respect for our contributions. We are all focused on the same thing: delivering great care to our patients. These are some of the reasons why we were named a top employer.” says Ann Lynch, Associate Director General for Clinical Operations.

Already recognized as one of Canada’s leading university health centres, the MUHC will be celebrating its most recent accomplishment with staff on all hospital sites on October 16 and 17.

The complete top 100 Canadian Employers list is published in this week’s edition of Maclean’s magazine.
