McGill soccer player named female athlete of the week in Quebec

MONTREAL - Alexandra Morin-Boucher of St. Gabriel de Brandon, Que., has been selected as the Quebec university female athlete of the week for the period ending, Sept. 27, 2009.

Morin-Boucher, a 5-foot-6 forward with the soccer Martlets, scored five goals and added one assist to help McGill sweep a pair of home games over the weekend. The 21-year-old sophomore in physical and health education scored the game-winner in both contests and was in on six of McGill's seven goals scored. She netted a hat-trick and set up another marker in a 4-0 win over Bishop's last Friday, then tallied twice in a 3-0 conquest over UQTR. Morin-Boucher enrolled at McGill last fall out of College de Joliette.

Nicolas Benoit, a soccer player from UQTR was the QSSF male athlete of the week.
