McGill rugby grad Zussman scores for Canada

OTTAWA - Julianne Zussman is back in the game. And there's no better feeling, especially when she not only celebrated a win, but also hit the scoresheet by notching her second career try and kicking two converts.

After a frustrated Zussman watched all five of Canada's games during the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup in England, serving as a non-playing reserve, timeout water girl and instruction messenger from the head coach, the former Ottawa resident was thrilled to get some field time Tuesday night in the opening game of the Nations Cup.


Zussman, 24, played a vital role in Canada's 52-17 victory over a tired South Africa team, when she scored the winning team's final try late in the game. The South African team had little time to rest before the game, after travelling 40 hours to arrive in Toronto.
