MONTREAL - Sarah McCuaig of Waterloo, Ont., and Yohann Capolungo, a native of France, are the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 31, 2010.

McCuaig, a 5-foot-10 distance runner with the Martlets cross-country squad, finished first in a field of 57 entries, leading McGill to the Quebec university championship at the Parc Centre de Nature in Laval, Que., Saturday. The 20-year-old physiology sophomore completed the five-kilometre course in 18 minutes, 12 seconds, to win the race by 14 seconds. She was named athlete of the meet and also voted by the coaches as the conference's athlete of the year. McCuaig joined the Martlets in 2009 out of Sir John A. Macdonald secondary school in Waterloo.

Capolungo, a speedy 5-foot-9, 165-pound midfielder with the soccer Redmen, scored three of the team's four goals in a pair of weekend victories that helped McGill clinch second place in Quebec conference. The 22-year-old finance junior tallied both markers in a key 2-1 win at UQAM on Sunday, which assured the Redmen of finishing ahead of UQAM in the league standings. Capolungo, a two-time conference all-star who earned all-Canadian status last year, also netted the insurance marker in a 2-0 victory over Concordia last Friday. He enrolled at McGill in 2008 after graduating from the Centre National d'Enseignement à Distance in France.
