Law Students Inducted into Scarlet Key Society

Published: 1 April 2010

Law students Alexandre Shee and Seo Yun Yang were one of 14 McGill students to receive a Scarlet Key on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in a pinning ceremony presided over by Principal Heather Munroe-Blum.

Alex Shee, L3 - As the 2009-2010 President of the Law Students' Association (LSA), Alex innovated by presenting a budget that allowed students to see how the association spends their money. Alex is ubiquitous in the Faculty of Law, getting involved in many major events, from coffeehouses to Skit Nite to Law School of Rock. He has also been very active in making new students feel welcome in the Faculty. As a councilor of the Students' Society of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ (SSMU), he was a key player in helping francophone students work with SSMU institutions.

Seo Yun Yang, L3 - As the 2009-2010 Editor-in-Chief of the McGill Law Journal, Seo Yun was concerned to learn that the Journal, one of North America's most significant contributors to legal scholarship, was running behind schedule. In short time, Seo Yun has instituted a record-keeping system in collaboration with McGill Archives to examine the last fifty years of the Journal to determine what was causing the delays. By establishing clear guidelines and eliminating outdated procedures, she has ensured that the Journal will soon be back on schedule and remain at the vanguard of legal scholarship.

Last year, three other McGill Law students, Eytan Bensoussan, Ryan Tomicic and Eric Van Eyken also received Scarlet Key Society pins.
