COTE St. LUC, Que. - Shortstop Alexander Day of Toronto blasted a grand slam home-run as McGill dumped Ottawa 7-3 in the first game of a doubleheader sweep at Trudeau Park, Sunday. The Redmen won the nightcap 8-2 to extend their win streak to 4-0 in the Canadian Intercollegiate baseball Association.

McGill starter David Haberman, a 5-foot-10 junior from Teaneck, N.J., scattered three hits and allowed two earned runs over five innings of work. He struck out three but served up five walks en route to the victory.

In the second game of the twin-bill, Daniel Kost-Stephenson of Westmount, Que., tossed a complete game three-hitter. In seven innings of work, he allowed one earned run on three hits with a pair of strikeouts and three walks.

Second-baseman Max Tierno, a native of Manhattan, NY, went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI from the leadoff spot to spark the Redmen. Rookie right-fielder Daniel Porter of Coaticook, Que.,, batted ninth, going 2-for-2 and drawing a pair of walks.

McGill (4-0) plays the defending national champion Concordia Stingers (0-0) at Trudeau Park on back-to-back nights, Wednesday and Thursday. Both games are slated for an 8 pm start.
